Elaine Boyak (better known as "Elaine the Pain") is a long-serving social worker, who throughout The Story of Tracy Beaker was never everyone's favourite person due to her intolerable and somewhat interfering nature, which earned her the nickname "Elaine the Pain" from the children in care and staff alike.

In Series 2 of The Beaker Girls, "Telling Stories", she reveals that she has become an author and has recently written a book about her own experiences of working with children in care.

The Beaker Girls: Series 2

Elaine returns in Series 2, Episode 8 of The Beaker Girls, were she is invited to be a special guest speaker at the awards ceremony. Her suprise reappearance ruins the suprise award that Jordan has nominated Tracy for. Elaine goes on to give a preview of the book she has wrote, detailing her experiences of working with children in the care system. However, much of what she has written is about Tracy's childhood. Elaine's recollection of events leaves Tracy feeling hurt and betrayed. Later, Elaine goes to apologize and make amends with Tracy, and asks her for help rewriting the book.

It is left unclear wheather Elaine still works as a social worker or if she has given up the profession.
